Save Up to $3,000 on Qualifying Heat Pumps with the Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebate (HER)
The Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebate (HER) program is back! You have the opportunity to receive up to $5,000 in rebates on eligible upgrades like heat pumps, insulation, windows, and doors.
Qualifying Rebates Include:
- Air Source Heat Pump: Up to $1,000
- Cold Climate Air Source Heat Pump: Up to $2,000
- Ground Source Heat Pump Replacement: Up to $3,000
- Ground Source Heat Pump Full System: Up to $1,500
- Heat Pump Water Heater: Up to $500
- Attic Insulation: Up to $1,500
- Exposed Floor Insulation: $300
- Exterior Wall Insulation: Up to $3,600
- Basement Insulation: Up to $3,500
- Air Sealing: Up to $180
- Windows/Doors/Sliding Doors/Skylights: $50 Each
Each home is eligible for a maximum rebate of $5,000 across all qualifying upgrades. An energy assessment, costing up to $600, is required to validate your project and claim your rebate.
How Does the Home Efficiency Rebate (HER) Work?
Complete an initial home energy evaluation
Before making any upgrades, get in touch with an Enbridge Gas-approved service organization. A certified energy advisor will then assess your home and suggest improvements.
Get your recommended upgrades
After the evaluation, the energy advisor will provide you with a customized report detailing energy-saving upgrades tailored to your home.
Complete a minimum of two qualifying upgrades
Contact HAMCO to install your new heat pump system.
Schedule your follow-up assessment
After the upgrades are installed, book a second evaluation. This follow-up assessment, which lasts about an hour, must be done within 120 days of your initial assessment or by December 31, 2025.
Claim your rebates
Rebate cheques, including a $600 reimbursement for the initial and follow-up assessments, will start being issued in January 2025.
What Is a Heat Pump?
A heat pump stands out for its dual functionality, providing both heating and cooling for your home as needed. Rather than investing in separate systems like a furnace and an air conditioner, each with its own maintenance requirements, you can choose a single system that ensures comfort year-round. In cooling mode, a heat pump extracts heat and moisture from the indoor air and releases it outside. In the winter, when heating, it draws warmth from the outdoor air and transfers it into your home.
Why Heat Pumps?
Heat pumps are quickly emerging as the top choice for home heating, and it’s easy to see why. These cutting-edge systems are far more energy-efficient than traditional furnaces and baseboard heaters, with the potential to lower heating costs by up to 50%.
Unlike conventional heating methods, heat pumps work by transferring heat rather than generating it, which leads to a substantial decrease in carbon emissions. If widely adopted, heat pumps could reduce global CO2 emissions by an incredible 500 million tonnes by 2030. By making the switch to a heat pump, you can not only shrink your carbon footprint but also take advantage of significant rebates, offering substantial savings.
Save Energy & Money With a Hybrid Heating System
Heat pumps in a hybrid system are much more energy-efficient than traditional HVAC systems because they transfer heat instead of generating it. With efficiency levels above 100%, they produce more thermal energy than the electricity they consume, leading to lower energy bills and significant cost savings. Additional savings can be gained through grants and rebates – making the switch to a heat pump more affordable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I participate if I own a home that is not my primary residence?
Absolutely! Enbridge Gas customers who primarily heat their homes with natural gas during the time of your initial energy assessment or the follow-up energy assessment can participate in the HER program, regardless of whether the property is their primary residence or not.
Why do I need to complete two upgrades?
A home’s energy efficiency depends on its interconnected systems. For example, new insulation won’t work as well without proper air sealing. To maximize your home’s comfort and energy savings, follow your energy advisor’s recommendations. Please note: at least three new windows must be installed to qualify as an upgrade.
What is a home energy assessment and how long does it take?
A home energy assessment evaluates how your home uses energy and recommends energy-efficient upgrades. A registered advisor will inspect your entire home to create a personalized energy plan. The initial assessment takes about two hours, while the follow-up is approximately one hour.
Do I have to pay for the home energy assessment?
Homeowners are responsible for initial assessment costs, but these are recoverable through a single rebate up to $600, upon program completion.
Am I eligible for rebates if I’ve already installed my upgrades or started renovations?
No. You must complete a home energy assessment before starting renovations. Any upgrades done beforehand won’t qualify for the Home Efficiency Rebate.
Do I need to hire a professional contractor to complete the work?
Some upgrades, like air sealing, can be done without professional help, with the proper guidance. Although, larger projects like heat pump installation require a professional.
Can I apply for the Canada Greener Home Loan through Enbridge Gas?
The Home Efficiency Rebate is a separate program from the Canada Greener Homes Loan. Ontario residents can apply for the loan through the Canada Greener Homes Loan Portal.
When will HER rebates be awarded?
Rebate cheques will be issued in January 2025 following successful HER program completion.
How long do I have to complete my follow-up home energy assessment?
Complete the follow-up assessment within 120 days of the initial assessment or by December 31st, 2025. Extensions may be possible in certain cases.
Note: For initial assessments done on or after February 6th 2024, and before July 15th 2024, the follow-up must be completed 120 days from July 15th 2024.
Can I go through HER if I’ve already gone through HER+ or a past Enbridge Gas program?
You may qualify for the HER program even if you’ve participated in previous Enbridge Gas programs, but you can’t receive rebates for the same upgrades multiple times. New energy assessments are required.

This is a team with as much integrity as they have expertise.We were experiencing... intermittent outages and error codes on our 12 year old Viessmann boiler and after a competitor had been called out 3 times in the course of a week to fix it and told me I had to replace the whole thing I called Hamco to compare pricing.Not only did Hamco come in 50% cheaper than the competition on the quote to install a replacement the very next day, they encouraged me to let their tech take a look at the boiler first to confirm it in fact needed replacing.Stefan came out same day, exactly when they said he would and gave the boiler a full once over. He pulled it apart, checked the probes and ignitor, cleaned every nook and cranny, reassembled everything and flashed it back up. It's been burning hot since with no issues. We just had a second furnace installed through Hamco. The AC will be installed on Thursday. Veronica and Victor arrived to our home as promised the day before by Steve, the... tech who diagnosed our 14 year old furnace needed replacement. So appreciative of the service. We got tankless and furnace service. Christian showed up on time as scheduled. He was polite, knowledgeable and quick. Offered tips and tricks for us to maintain our... equipment and provided a full report for each appliances. We asked for a flush on our tankless but he advised that we were missing components to effectively do it. He offered the solution and timeline when we could do the service without causing issue to the unit.10/10 recommend Hamco...well Christian who represents themWill have them back again for future service and or repairsread more

HAMCO was able to schedule an install for my water heater within a week's time and the work was done very fast and they cleaned up well. I'm very happy to have had HAMCO... replace the Reliance water heater rental in my house and I will be seeking their services in the future for other heating/cooling work if I need it. They were also very flexible about hanging on to the rental unit and returning it for me, which I appreciate very much.read more

Cameron the technician performed the yearly maintenance on our Furnace and was very professional while he performed this service.
