Ductless mini splits are HVAC systems designed to provide maximum comfort with minimal visual impact. What is a Mini Split?
A mini split is an HVAC system that provides heating and cooling without the need for ductwork. They can also be configured so that you can control the temperature of individual rooms or zones. Mini split systems are a great option for houses without existing ductwork, small homes, or for new additions to a home.
Mini splits have two main components – an outdoor compressor/condenser and one or more indoor air handling units. The air handlers can be mounted on either walls or ceilings. These units are connected by refrigerant lines and electrical wiring.

Where Can I Install a Ductless Mini Split?
When it comes to choosing the perfect installation location for your ductless mini split, there are 4 primary options to consider. Each has its unique benefits and is suitable for specific situations.
On the Wall
The first option is to wall mount it, which is also the most popular way to install a ductless mini split system. An indoor head for the system is typically mounted in a specific space to optimize its air flow. Most homeowners and companies prefer to install one indoor head for one larger room, then additional indoor heads in separate spaces like bedrooms or offices. The conditioned air is pushed through the bottom of the unit to direct air down and into a space, keeping each room at the perfect temperature.
On the Ceiling
For larger open spaces, ceiling installation, also known as a cassette configuration, is the best option. It requires 10 inches of space between the ceiling and the indoor unit, and airflow is regulated in all directions simultaneously.
On the Floor
If you prefer an installation that is less obtrusive, a floor-mounted configuration can direct cold air upward toward the ceiling.
Concealed Ducted
Lastly, there is an option to install this type of system in an attic-type space with concealed ducting running to each individual room. This is ideal if you prefer an installation that does not affect the aesthetics of your home, although it is the most challenging to maintain due to where it is installed.
Save Up to $6,500 on Mini Split Heat Pumps
Because they’re so efficient and can reduce your home’s carbon footprint, the Canadian government is currently offering a grant to help eligible Canadians install heat pumps, including mini split heat pumps, in their home.
The Canada Greener Homes Grant is for homeowners looking to make their homes more energy efficient. Eligible Canadians can receive up to $6,500 on qualifying ductless heat pump systems or heat pump and furnace/air handler combinations as well as $600 for an EnerGuide home evaluation.
Through the grant application, there is an option to apply for a no-interest loan of up to $40,000 with a repayment term of up to 10 years. This loan can be used for bigger home improvements to make your house more energy efficient.

I cannot say enough good things about Stefan, Jordan, and the entire Hamco team. This is a team with as much integrity as they have expertise.We were experiencing... intermittent outages and error codes on our 12 year old Viessmann boiler and after a competitor had been called out 3 times in the course of a week to fix it and told me I had to replace the whole thing I called Hamco to compare pricing.Not only did Hamco come in 50% cheaper than the competition on the quote to install a replacement the very next day, they encouraged me to let their tech take a look at the boiler first to confirm it in fact needed replacing.Stefan came out same day, exactly when they said he would and gave the boiler a full once over. He pulled it apart, checked the probes and ignitor, cleaned every nook and cranny, reassembled everything and flashed it back up. It's been burning hot since with no issues. Didn't even need replacement parts, let alone to be replaced outright!Thank you, Hamco. Cameron the technician performed the yearly maintenance on our Furnace and was very professional while he performed this service. He even took his boots off upon entering our... home and asked if he could use the laundry sink in order to clean a part so that it would work better. I was very happy with his work.read more

Moved in to a new home with a pretty new furnace, heat pump and smart thermostat. The later two I know nothing about! Had HAMCO come to do a maintenance inspection.
